National Observatory for Women in Agriculture and Rural Areas (NOWARA)
One of its main objectives is the promotion of territorial development through the valorization of women entrepreneurship and the creation of innovative dynamics related to the work and employment of Lebanese women in the agricultural, agro food and rural sectors. Nowara also aims to support rural women by spreading knowledge and good practices.

Nowara Award 2013

The establishment of the National award for best rural women economic initiative in agriculture/agro food for individuals or as a group of producers. A committee has been formed setting the award criteria and conditions for participation. The award will be presented annually starting as from 2009.

HORECA 2014

The National Observatory for Women in Agriculture and Rural Areas (NOWARA) had participated for the second consecutive year in HORECA exhibition at BIEL in Beirut from 1st to 4th April 2014. During HORECA 21th edition, NOWARA had given an opportunity to 7 women producers, who previously participated in NOWARA’s training programs and received appropriate technical and financial support, in order to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and provide opportunities in marketing, networking and exchange of experiences.

The awareness campaign “Stories from our village” involves public schools and libraries from all the Lebanese regions. Students of sixth, seventh and eighth grades, directors and counselors of elementary schools are all participating in this campaign through competitions and workshops carried out in public schools and libraries.
