NOWARA PARTICIPATION IN HORECA FROM 1-4 APRIL 2014
The National Observatory for Women in Agriculture and Rural Areas (NOWARA) had participated for the second consecutive year in HORECA exhibition at BIEL in Beirut from 1st to 4th April 2014. During HORECA 21th edition, NOWARA had given an opportunity to 7 women producers, who previously participated in NOWARA’s training programs and received appropriate technical and financial support, in order to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and provide opportunities in marketing, networking and exchange of experiences. One women representing a cooperative and six women entrepreneurs had exhibited their most relevant products to local and international companies, chefs and experts in hospitality and food sector at NOWARA’s stand L15-L19.
A variety of local and traditional food and handicraft products were exposed and tasted in NOWARA’s stand, such as za’atar mix of the Productive Agricultural Cooperative in Adchit, fig jam from Al Kassir, apple vinegar and Kebbe mix from Al Doha, organic wheat from Organica, laurel oil and soap from Al Nour for Ghar, saffron from Za’afaran Loubnan, and handmade carpets from Hirfa Wa Tourath.
The participation to HORECA 2014 was in the framework of the project “Socio-economic development of the rural population of Southern Lebanon”, promoted by the Italian NGO C.T.M. Onlus, in partnership with the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture. The project is co-funded by the Italian Development Cooperation.
